What WhatchaWatching keeps about you, what it does not, and how to have it deleted.

What is stored

• Your account: your username, your email address and your password. The password is never stored as such, only a hash that cannot be turned back into it.
• What you do on the site: your list, the setting for adult content, your country and the anime you added by hand (private to you).
• The titles: a title you open is saved in a catalog shared by everyone, to avoid asking the data providers again. The catalog does not say who opened it. Only your list ties you to the titles you added.

Searching and reading a title page work without an account. In that case nothing about you is stored.

Cookies

Three cookies, all needed for the site to work, and no others. One keeps you signed in (for the length of the visit, or two weeks if you chose to stay signed in). One protects the forms against forged requests. One remembers the language you chose, for a year. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.

Your email address

It is used to confirm that the address is yours and to send you a link when you forget your password. Nothing else is ever sent to it.

Other sites

• The data of the titles comes from Jikan (MyAnimeList), AniList and TMDB. It is the site that asks for it, not your browser: they do not see you, and what you search for reaches them without your name or your address.
• The posters are loaded by your browser from the servers of those providers (and, for an anime you added by hand, from the address you gave). These servers therefore see your IP address when a page with posters is shown. The site tells them nothing about the page you are on.
• Where to watch a title comes from JustWatch, through TMDB.

Delete your data

My account has a Delete my account button. It deletes at once and for good your account, your list and the anime you added by hand. A backup of the database made before may still hold your data until it is replaced.

Where it is kept

The site and its database are hosted by AlwaysData. The site is a personal project. To ask something about your data or to report a problem, open an issue on the project page.
